2011 Nice Guidelines: Hypertension
A quarter of patients may find visiting a GP stressful while they have their Blood Pressure taken. Consequently this leads to misleading readings resulting in prescribing drugs that they do not need.
To overcome this problem NICE guideline recommends a diagnosis of hypertension should be made using a 24 Hour ABPM or a Home Blood Pressure Monitoring System – HBPM.
